EC describes the process so far in ongoing elections as smooth and cautions media against reporting unverified news

Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Madam Jean Mensa, has stated that the process in the ongoing presidential and parliamentary elections across all the 276 constituencies has been smooth.

Speaking to journalists in the Commission’s first address on the ongoing elections, Madam Jean Mensa said the elections are proceeding well across the country.

She said the EC was confident that the good Lord who started this good process with them will lead them to a successful end.

She admonished journalists to use the Commission’s dedicated toll number to verify information or report any issues arising during the voting process. 

She told the media that the EC remains committed to providing real-time assistance to support their work.

“We urge all media persons to reach out to us using the toll number provided. We are available to address any concerns or provide clarification promptly. This collaboration will ensure accurate information is shared across all parts of your work,” she added.

She advised the media to desist from the reporting of unverified reports, particularly during this critical period.

“Journalists have a significant role to play in shaping public perception. We ask for your cooperation in upholding the integrity of the process by sharing only verified and credible information,” she added.
