If you do not vote, those who do will elect those who decide the price of your kenkey, water, electricity, and fuel – Lecturer

December 7, 2024
Noel-Nutsugah

Noel Nutsugah is a lecturer at the Department of Public Relations in the Faculty of Public Relations, Advertising, and Marketing at the University of Media, Arts, and Communication (UNIMAC). Noel Nutsugah has encouraged every registered Ghanaian voter to participate in today’s presidential and parliamentary elections.

The lecturer and researcher posited that it is a civic responsibility for every Ghanaian voter to participate in the exercise.

In a Facebook post, the lecturer stated that those who have refused to participate in the exercise will vote for leaders who will decide how much they will spend on bread, kenkey, fuel, electricity, water, and other items.

He said that it is also the responsibility of every Ghanaian voter to participate in the exercise because the winner will determine the taxes Ghanaians must pay.

He stated that if Ghanaians do not vote, there will be consequences, emphasising the importance of voting as a civic duty for all.

He wrote ‘’Abi you say as for you di3 you don’t do politics right? Don’t worry. We who “do politics” will vote on your behalf. We’ll determine who becomes the next president who will then determine how much you buy bread, kenkey, fuel, electricity, water, dollar and so on. The fellow will determine what taxes you should pay and all. Even the amount of money you take home at the end of the month and how much of that you can save, including how much interest you get when you save your money will all be determined by the person.

If you don’t go out to vote today, these and many more are the implications. It’s a Civil Duty.

Go and let your voice be heard. Most of all, remain vigilant yet peaceful.

All the best!

Noel Nutsugah is also a public relations and media practitioner with over 14 years of progressive and all-around experience in broadcasting and PR consultancy, having worked with various media houses and PR agencies in Ghana and abroad, including a brief stint at DW Akademie in Germany. He was also the editor-in-chief of the Youth Newsroom during the 2018 World Press Freedom Day celebrations in Accra.

Noel has worked in public relations for a number of local and multinational brands in Ghana, including Diageo Ghana, the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, the Ministry of Information, Vivahealth Medical Foundation, and AHOY Africa. These industry experiences enable him to demonstrate a collaborative teaching philosophy based on practical lessons and current issues in the industry.

He is a former member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), a current member of the Communication Educators Association of Ghana (CEAG), and an accredited member of the Institute of Public Relations Ghana (IPR).
