The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has raised concerns over alleged intimidation and thuggery allegedly fuelled by some members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in some constituencies across the country.
General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua claimed that some supporters of NDC in Damango, Ablekuma North, Trobu, Techiman South, Awowin, Ahafo South, Obuasi East, Nsawam Adoagyiri, Fanteakwa North, Ahafo North, Ahafo Ano South West, Tema Central, and Akwatia.
He said data that made their candidate concede also shows they have won these constituencies, and the NDC is unwilling to accept the results.
He served notice that the NPP will resist any and every attempt to tamper with the results of the parliamentary elections in these constituencies.
The chief scribe of the NPP called on the IGP to deal with the matter since he made a promise to the political parties that he will see to it that we have free, fair, and transparent elections, adding that he must ensure that the lives and safety of Ghanaians are assured.
He stated that the NPP, per its collated results, has won in the constituencies, and no form of intimidation and threats from the NDC supporters will scare them into giving up on these constituencies.
He said this was the first time a presidential candidate has conceded defeat just 14 hours after the elections.
He called on former President John Dramani Mahama to call his party supporters to order to prevent any form of tension, intimidation, and violence.
