The incumbent Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Andrew Kofi Egyapa Mercer, has been defeated in the parliamentary election by Blay Nyameke Armah of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The MP who contested on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) polled 11,084 votes, representing 42.94% of the total valid votes.
The NDC’s candidate, Blay Nyameke Armah, garnered 14,558 votes, representing 56.40%.
Out of the 25,813 votes cast, 171 ballots were rejected.
In the 2016 elections, Agyap Mercer won the contest with 16,839 votes, representing 59.47% of the total valid votes.
