Andy Appiah Kubi, the MP for Asante Akyem North, has been defeated by Ohene Kwame Frimpong, an independent candidate and businessman.
Ohene Kwame Frimpong won the contest by securing 26,926 votes.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s candidate, Kofi Asamoah, got 2,469 votes.
Appiah Kubi, the NPP candidate, received 8,933 votes, while Kofi Asamoah, the NDC candidate, received only 2,469 votes.
The NPP’s candidate served two terms in Parliament. He won the 2016 and 2020 elections to represent the constituency in Parliament.
