Soldiers have been deployed to Tepa in the Ahafo Ano North Constituency of the Ashanti Region after some individuals believed to be National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters went on a rampage, torching private and public property.
According to reports, supporters burned structures at Tepa Senior High School, where ballot materials for Saturday’s presidential and parliamentary elections were stored.
The group allegedly stormed a local radio station run by the 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate and ransacked a warehouse.
They have also been accused of destroying a vehicle belonging to the NPP’s candidate, who is currently the Director General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).
The Electoral Commission (EC) has postponed the announcement due to the disputed results of the Ahafo Ano North Presidential and Parliamentary polls.
It was challenging to ascertain the actual numbers because the polling station was looted and the ballots were destroyed.
