Akufo-Addo became like Nebuchadnezzar; he was purely wicked, and so God humbled him—NDC MP

December 11, 2024
Akufo-Addo-travel

Member of Parliament for Banda, Ahmed Ibrahim, says the terrible legacy of President Akufo-Addo and the manipulation of state institutions led to the party’s humiliating defeat in the 2024 general elections.

The reelected MP said the Akufo-Addo-led administration manipulated our state institutions, including the judiciary, to the point of appointing known party members to the superior courts of Ghana.

Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he said it was so terrible that whenever you complain of something, they will ask you to go to court all because they have packed the courts with their party people.

‘’In the high court, he appointed people to the point that he appointed party chairmen and constituency chairmen as judges. He appointed party people to the Supreme Court and High Court. They misbehaved to the point that when you complain, they will tell you to go to court. Going to court meant he had influenced these institutions. Then you come to the Electoral Commission (EC). He appointed his party members to the EC. He captured the judiciary and EC. He wanted to capture the Audit-Service, so he removed Domelevo and brought in his party person. The court described his action as unconstitutional, but it was too late.

The President did not stop there; he had plans to capture Parliament, so if he discovered you were vocal, he would give your opponent a position so that they could raise funds to campaign and contest against you. They amassed wealth. He sponsored candidates to challenge his political opponents who were critical of his administration. He later appeared to be wrestling with God, but, like Nebuchadnezzar, God humbled him, he claimed.

He told host Kwabena Agyapong that God wanted to rescue Ghanaians from the wickedness of President Akufo-Addo, and so he had to step in and have his party lose the elections.
