The National Peace Council (NPC) has revealed that the recollation exercise at the Tesano Police Training School was initiated by the Electoral Commission (EC).
According to the Council, the recollation was not requested by any political party or the Ghana Police Service.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Council to clarify issues surrounding the exercise.
The EC has suspended the recollation exercise to allow for further engagement with political parties following disagreements over the recollation.
NPC has therefore called on political parties to resolve their grievances through the courts.
The council further admonished the EC to convene an urgent meeting of the Inter-Party
Advisory Committee (IPAC), involving all political party representatives and key stakeholders, to find a consensus and break the current deadlock.
“Our checks with partners have also confirmed that the collation exercise at Tesano Police Training School was at the instance of the EC and not any political party or the Ghana Police Service.”
