President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says the successful organisation of the 2024 general elections is a testament to the nation’s democratic resilience.
Speaking at the commissioning of a new office complex for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, the President posited that the election results have reinforced Ghana’s democratic credentials.
He opined that the outcome of the elections has firmly established and will continue to thrive in the future.
“The successful conduct of the presidential and parliamentary elections on 7 December 2024 stands as a testament to the resilience of our democracy.
“The peaceful nature of the electoral process and the gracious concession of Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP presidential candidate, are powerful reminders that democracy remains the foundation of our progress and national unity.”
The Electoral Commission declared John Dramani Mahama, leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as Ghana’s president-elect after the general elections.
The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Jean Mensa, declared H.E. John Dramani Mahama as President-Elect of the Republic of Ghana following the presidential election that took place on 7th December, 2024.
The former president won the election with 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55%.
His contender, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, secured 4,657,304, representing 41.61%.
