Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has blamed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament for the Finance Minister’s inability to present the mini-budget, accusing them of fostering chaos and impeding consensus-building.
His remarks come after Speaker Alban Bagbin adjourned the session until January 2, 2025, after Minister Amin Adam failed to submit the mini-budget to the house.
Addressing the press after the Speaker adjourned the meeting, he stated that the NDC members intended to remove some key issues from the order paper, such as the free SHS bill and the consideration of some judges.
He also revealed that the Finance Minister will lay the expenditure in advance of appropriation when the House reconvenes on January 2, 2024.
