Madam Fatimatu Abubakar, the Government Transition Team’s spokesperson, has disclosed that the outgoing Akufo-Addo administration has not given any ministry, department, or agency (MDA) permission to make new payments or hire new employees.
She is also claiming that all the allegations of “last-minute payments and recruitment” raised by the incoming government did not exist.
The Information Minister I wished that the processes for payments and recruitment had started months earlier.
The outgoing government, she noted, has shown goodwill towards the incoming Mahama-led administration for a smooth power transfer.
She has therefore underscored the need for both sides of the transition teams to conduct themselves professionally.
Speaking to journalists, the minister indicated that the recruitment of nurses and allied health personnel, which the portal for recruitment opened long before elections were organised
“The recruitment of security personnel started at the beginning of the year, while the processes for purchasing 65-foot naval ships began three years ago,” she said.
Madam Abubakar specifically admonished Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the spokesperson for the president-elect’s transition team, to be measured in his public pronouncements in order not to raise “unnecessary tensions.”.
She added that the outgoing government complied with the provisions of the Transition Act while the co-chairs of the Joint Team had conducted the business of the transition process fairly.
