Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister of Education, has assured Ghanaians that the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results will be released on December 29, 2024.
The Minister’s assurance comes after WAEC stated that it is unable to release the results due to government arrears.
He revealed this after a working visit to the West African Examinations Council’s (WAEC) printing facility.
The visit came after WAEC revealed that the results’ release had been delayed due to a scanner breakdown.
The Ministry has since released two tranches of GHC 25 million to WAEC, out of a total of over GHC 100 million owed.
“This morning, we visited WAEC and we have been taken around and they are working and by December 29 or before, the results of our exams will be out so that the universities can go about their job of making sure our students will also be given admission to pursue their various degree and diploma programmes
“I was here with the Director-General of Ghana Education Service, and we are satisfied with the level of preparation and the work being done by WAEC, and we are grateful for their service and for the fact that even during this break, they have staff here working around the clock to ensure that the results will be released for our students to continue with their education.”
