The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates.
The results were released according to WAEC for those who wrote the 2024 examination, Ghana Only Version.
According to WAEC, a total number of 460,611 candidates, made up of 212,954 males and 247,657 females from 1,003 schools, entered for the examination.
The figure is 2.66% higher than the 2023 entry figure of 448,674.
A total number of 4,609 (1.0%) were absent from the examination.
WAEC announced that the subject results of 4,108 candidates were cancelled for bringing foreign material like prepared notes, textbooks, and printed material into the examination halls.
The entire results of 483 candidates were also cancelled for possession of mobilephones in the examination halls.
The Council is also withholding the Subject Results of 781 and the Entire Results of 209.candidates for various suspected offences.
“Yet still, some subject results of candidates from 319 schools have been withheld foralleged collusion. These cases are still under investigation. The withheld results ofthese candidates may be released or cancelled depending on the outcome ofinvestigations,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, WAEC has cautioned the public to resist those who will promise them an upgrade to their results.
“The Council would like to caution all its stakeholders to be wary of fraudsters whopromise to upgrade results for a fee. Candidates are to note that WAEC results aresecured and can be authenticated using its results verification system. The WAEC QRcode can be downloaded and used to verify results.”
