Five positive cases were confirmed by laboratory testing out of 28 suspicious cases.

Because of the outbreak’s spread, Ashanti Region health officials have increased their level of alertness.

In response, the Ashanti Regional Health Directorate convened an emergency meeting at the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre.

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), environmental health officers, water and sanitation departments, and health directors from district, municipal, and metropolitan areas were among the participants.

The Regional Health Directorate has implemented the following actions to stop the spread: sanitising confirmed cases’ houses. identifying and tracking down the impacted individuals’ contacts.

Strengthening public health surveillance and response efforts in collaboration with district teams.

Organising public health emergency committees in affected areas. An initial evaluation of impacted communities in Bekwai and Sekyere South found that all confirmed cases were limited to specific localities, and none of the affected people utilised public facilities.

The Regional Health Directorate, directed by Dr. Fred Adomako-Boateng, has also increased awareness campaigns and training for healthcare personnel in case definitions, identification, and contact tracing.
