The National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed Alexander Afenyo-Markin as the Minority Leader for the yet-to-be-inaugurated 9th Parliament.
He will lead the caucus in the House and stir the affairs of the party in the next session.
The party faced a humiliating defeat after losing over 40 seats to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He would be deputised by Patricia Apiagyei as Deputy Minority Leader.
Frank Annoh-Dompreh has also been appointed as the Chief Whip, with Habib Iddrisu as First Deputy Minority Whip.
Reacting to this, Mr. Afenyo-Markin stated that “What I can say is that I thank the National Council for the trust reposed in me and the decision to confirm me to lead my side in Parliament. I can promise them one thing: hard work, hard work, hard work. May God be my guide”.
