The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) says it has successfully disbursed GH¢270 million to healthcare providers nationwide.
The amount the NHIA revealed is to cover claims submitted and vetted up to October 2024 and part of November 2024.
A statement signed and issued by Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye, Chief Executive of NHIA, disclosed that the payments are within the agreed-upon three-month reimbursement period and currently has no outstanding vetted claims to pay.
“This latest payment brings the total amount released by the NHIA over the past four months to over GH¢1.2 billion, reinforcing the Authority’s ongoing commitment to supporting healthcare providers and ensuring the sustainability of the NHIS.”
He further advised the healthcare providers to submit their claims promptly, as claims should not cover a period exceeding 90 days.
The statement added that NHIA remains committed to engaging with stakeholders to address any concerns and ensure the collaboration needed to sustain an efficient and effective healthcare system.
According to the NHIA, the NHIS benefit package remains expansive, addressing over 95 percent of disease conditions and offering over 550 medications.
The NHIA had already disbursed GH₵402 million for June and July claims, GH₵335 million for August, and GH₵200 million for September and October.
