Political analyst Mr. Alex Emmanuel Nti has described Speaker Alban Bagbin as an efficient speaker who conducted his duties in the national interest and not political interest.
He gave him an A, saying that despite his flaws, the man stood out.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Mr. Alex Emmanuel Nti argued that, contrary to claims that the Speaker was obsessed with power, he carried out his duties ethically.
”I believe the man did his best. However, there may have been some errors recorded. Since it was a human institution and he was also human, he was bound to make mistakes. But I can say that Bagbin’s efficiency level is extremely high. If I am to grade him on his performance as Speaker, I will give him an A. I believe he did his best.”
He told host Kwabena Agyapong that Bagbin is an experienced speaker.” President-elect John Mahama’s recommendation that he be retained as Speaker of the ninth parliament was the best decision. He has extensive experience and can function effectively as President. Given the tensions, chaos, and controversies, he has handled the hung parliament admirably. He will be a valuable asset to the NDC, revealing whether he is a biassed personality or whether his actions in the eight parliaments were motivated by a political agenda. Ghana will benefit greatly from having him as Speaker’.
In his view, the Speaker has made history, and’putting the history aside, the impact of his work as Speaker is commendable. If he is able to make the house how it should be in the ninth parliament, with the standards and better rules, it would be historical. He is making history back to back, and that is good for him politically.
