Mr. Desmond Ackah, Head of Public Relations for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), has advised Ghanaians to call their emergency lines immediately in the event of a fire outbreak.
According to him, victims of fire outbreaks frequently delay calling their emergency lines on time.
This, he stated, was a hindrance in dealing with emergency situations.
In an interview with Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he stated that calling the emergency lines is the most important first step in dealing with an outbreak.
He emphasised that the GNFS remains committed, prepared, and that with the dedicated and trained personnel, they will always respond quickly to any fire outbreak.
He lamented that, despite their efforts in public education, some members of the Ghanaian public show no interest in fire safety awareness campaigns.
“We will remind the Ghanaian public to always call the GNFS. No matter where you live, we are ready to respond to emergencies. Please contact us immediately if you witness an emergency. Ghanaians rarely call us on time and then blame us when the situation has escalated.
He said the GNFS is there to serve, and whenever people are in urgent need of their services, all they need to do is to call 112, 192, and the hotline 0302772446.
