In his acceptance speech after being sworn in on January 7, 2025, he stated that being elected Speaker for a second consecutive term was a privilege and honour.
“It is with great humility that I accept the high and privileged office of the Speaker of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana,” he stated.
He also expressed gratitude to God, President-elect John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress, and the MPs.
“I came to the Speakership of the Eighth Parliament with my experience as the longest-serving legislator of the House. I now come to the Ninth Parliament not only with that background but with the experience of four years of speakership in a very difficult hung parliament.”
He expressed his commitment to using his experience in guiding the House diligently.
“I promise to bring all these experiences to bear in guiding this House to perform its mandate with efficiency, diligence, and above all, with a sense of being the bulwark of democracy in Ghana,” he pledged.
“Honorable members, I am very grateful for the privilege and confidence you have reposed in me to be Speaker and to help this honourable House once more,” he said.
To the people of Ghana, he said “To the good people of Ghana who continue to hope for a better Ghana, I urge you to support your Parliament and be interested and engaged with the work of Parliament’’.
