Joint military and police officers deployed to Nkwanta following violent incidents

The government has sent a combined team of police and military personnel to Nkwanta in the Oti Region to restore order following deadly clashes believed to be the result of a chieftaincy dispute.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP and Acting Spokesperson for President John Dramani, made the announcement on Facebook.

He said ‘’On the Nkwanta clashes,believed to stem from a Chieftaincy dispute, a combined team of Police and Military personnel were quickly deployed to restore calm. Additional troops being sent today to enforce law and order’’.

Three people have died as a result of gunshots fired on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, and Thursday, January 16, 2025.

Several other people were injured, including infants and children.
