The Ghana Police Service says it has restored calm, law, and order in Nkwanta and its environs in the Oti Region.
GPS said there was the deployment of reinforcement teams to support the regional command with support from the military.
The police, in a statement, said the disturbance in the community was due to renewed communal-related disturbances in the area, which has so far resulted in the death of five persons.
According to the GPS, five persons who were injured are currently receiving treatment while the bodies of the deceased persons have been deposited at the mortuary.
Meanwhile, the IGP, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, spoke with the three chiefs in the area over the phone and urged them to work with security agencies to maintain community security, law, and order.
