President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Wisdom Kwaku Deku as the acting executive secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA).
The appointment was contained in a letter dated January 17, 2025.
The appointment letter, signed by Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, said that Deku’s role would commence immediately, pending the constitutionally required advice of the NIA Council in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
Mr. Deku has since reacted to his appointment, thanking the president for the nomination.
In a Facebook post he wrote, “I am extremely grateful to President John Dramani Mahama for this recognition to serve as the executive secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA). It can ONLY be God. Resetting NIA to Build the Ghana We All Want Together.”
He has over 15 years of experience in IT strategy, cybersecurity, and systems analysis.
His academic record includes an MSc in Cybersecurity from the University of Liverpool, certifications in ethical hacking, IT management, and database administration, among others.
