Minister-designate of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has disclosed that the various ministries that have been aligned with the Local Government Ministry will have coordinators.
On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, he informed the Appointments Committee that there would be coordinators for sanitation, religious affairs, and chieftaincy to regulate activities in these sectors.
He stated that a Chief Director would oversee the duties of these coordinators and would then report to the minister.
He called the ministry and realignment a ”structural realignment”.
Ahmed Ibrahim was responding to a question on whether his duty as minister for the three ministries combined was not too huge.
‘’Three ministries are going to be combined to make one ministry. It now becomes structural realignment, where coordinators would be positioned at the other ministries that are being brought together with the Local Government Ministry. The sanitation module department will have a coordinator. The chieftaincy department will have a coordinator, and the local government itself will have a coordinator, and there will be a chief director who will be coordinating all these things. My work would be to deepen effective supervision and ethical governance.”
