President John Dramani has sworn in six of his ministerial nominees, who were approved by parliament following successful vetting by the Vetting Committee.
Today, Wednesday, January 22, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama administers the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Secrecy at the Jubilee House.
The nominees include:
- Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Minister-Designate for Finance
- Dr. Dominic Ayine, Attorney General-Designate
- John Jinapor, Minister-Designate for Energy and Green Transition
- Haruna Iddrisu, Minister-Designate for Education
- Eric Opoku, Minister-Designate for Food and Agriculture
- Governs Kwame Agbodza, Minister-Designate for Roads and Highways
The President encouraged them to carry out their responsibilities with diligence and in a way that will guarantee the realisation of the government’s policies and initiatives.
He was confident that his appointees would help him reset the country, and Ghanaians expect more from them and are no longer interested in administrations that take them for granted.
He advised them to serve with humility and candour, and to be tolerant when Ghanaians express their opinions.
He emphasised that his government will not tolerate arrogance from any appointee, and that all of them must be guided because anyone who violates the law will face consequences.
President Mahama also advised them to declare their assets, and announced that the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, would soon issue guidelines and deadlines for doing so.
Speaking on behalf of the ministers, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson assured the President that they would serve in such a way as to make him (Mahama) the best President of the fourth republic.
He has witnessed misgovernance and misrule under the previous administration and has learnt that Ghanaians will no longer tolerate such misgovernance.
Dr. Forson stated that they have taken the President’s advice and are prepared to serve with humility and candour.
He stated that they are aware of the state of the economy, justice system, and other sectors and are prepared to assist the country in resetting itself to address the challenges it faces.
