Do not be arrogant and disrespectful as Boahen Aidoo or you’ll fail—Cocoa Farmers to Randy

January 23, 2025

The Ghana National Association of Cocoa Farmers has served notice that they will no longer tolerate any form of arrogance and disrespect from Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) leadership.

President of the Association, Stepenson Anane Boateng, disclosed that the immediate past CEO of COCOBOD, Dr. Boahen Aidoo, was extremely arrogant and disrespectful and was one of the reasons why the previous NPP government failed in the cocoa sector.

He has therefore advised Dr. Randy Abbey, the newly appointed acting CEO, not to repeat the mistakes of Dr. Aidoo since those create serious crises for him, especially when he has no known experience on cocoa-related matters.

Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he claimed that the previous CEO and his Public Relations Officer, Fiifi Boafo, behaved like tin gods, taking cocoa farmers for granted and refusing to listen to their concerns.

He stated that Randy Abbey’s appointment was somewhat surprising, but they will give him the benefit of the doubt and see what he does at COCOBOD.

He stated that the Association has discovered Randy Abbey to be an effective administrator, and because the issues in the cocoa sector are complex, we believe the President chose him as a dynamic individual to review the issues and address them holistically. We are hopeful that he will perform his duties. I’m not surprised because, as a good administrator, Randy Abbey will deliver.

”Personally, I was surprised to hear his name because of Fiifi Boafo. Fiifi Boafo, a media man, was appointed as COCOBOD’s PRO, but his arrogance and disrespect were alarming. Fiifi Boafo’s arrogance could have contributed to Dr. Bawumia’s defeat. The CEO was also arrogant, so we do not want Randy Abbey to come and make the same mistakes. We need someone who is looking out for our best interests. We want someone with integrity who is willing to speak the truth at all times.”
