Parliament has approved two more nominees by President John Dramani Mahama after debating the report submitted before the plenary by the Vetting Committee.
The approved nominees are Abla Dzifa Gomashie—Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Emelia Arthur—Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture.
The nominees successfully went through vetting on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
Dzifa Gomashie, a veteran actress, producer, and filmmaker, is an advocate for arts and culture.
She is expected to enhance tourism by promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage and increasing revenue.Ghanaian travel experiences
She has decades of experience in advocacy and youth leadership. As a two-term MP for Ketu South, she has championed development and community support initiatives.
She previously served as Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, where she championed the promotion of Ghanaian culture and tourism through theatre arts, a lifelong passion that has endeared her to Ghanaians at home and abroad.
She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (First Class) and an MPhil in African Studies from the University of Ghana and an honorary Doctor of Leadership from the Global Centre for Transformational Leadership.
Emelia Arthur will focus on improving sustainability and productivity in the fisheries and aquaculture sector. Her experience in rural development and fisheries is expected to guide her efforts.
They are expected to be sworn into office by President John Dramani Mahama to officially begin work.
