Investigate those who organise fake funeral of Ga Manye, they used it to make money—Family to ORAL

January 28, 2025
Ga-manye-1

The family of the late Ga Manye, Naa Dedei Omaedro, has appealed to the Operations Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee to investigate the’fake funeral’’ organised for the late queen mother.

Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Farouk Osman Abdul, Executive Secretary of the family, said the body of the late queen mother is still in their custody, and anyone who challenges them should wait for the funeral rites.

He disclosed that the family is currently in the preparation stages for the funeral rites of the late queen mother and has asked Ghanaians to ignore the funeral organised because whatever was done was without the involvement of the bereaved family.

He told host Kwabena Agyapong that former President Akufo-Addo and his appointees who participated in the funeral activities knew the casket that was placed at the memorial service organised by the Ga Traditional Council was a sham and did not have the blessing of the family.

Farouk Osman Abdul stated, “We keep saying that the queen mother has not been buried.” As we speak, the late queen’s body is still in the mortuary, and Ghanaians believe she has been buried due to false media reports. But we want to be clear that she has not been buried. The former President and former security officials who were present were aware that the Queen Mother’s body was not in the casket. It’s unfortunate that people will allow this to occur.

When asked if they were willing to allow the media to verify the details by showing them the body, he replied, “Remain patient.” When we are ready to organise her final funeral rites, we will lay her in state, and the Ghanaian public will see that she was not buried, as reported by some media outlets.

He also lamented that several banks and institutions were deceived into donating large sums of money, which those who organised the fake funeral have yet to account for, adding, “They also used our mother’s death to levy people in the market, and of course we must raise questions about this. We’re preparing to give her a proper burial. We will hold the funeral publicly so that the entire country can see that they have been duped. We are therefore calling on security agencies to provide security for our family because the threats to our lives are too great.
