Private legal practitioner Oliver Barker-Vormawor has categorically denied being a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The lawyer who was summoned before the Vetting Committee over an alleged bribery allegation stated that he has never been a member of the NDC, either in the current or the past.
He indicated that his political ideologies do not make it possible for him to be a member of the NDC.
Barker-Vormawor told the Committee that he has in the past and will in the future continue to vote for the Convention People’s Party (CPP).
He was responding to a categorical statement made by Minority Leader Afenyo-Markin that it is a notorious fact that he (Barker-Vormawor) was a member of the NDC.
Afenyo-Markin, in his statement, said,’The lawyer alleged that NDC members of this committee have been demanding money from the nominees: ”We know, and it is a notorious fact that Oliver Barker-Vormawor is a member of the NDC tradition, and this is coming from him against the NDC members of this committee with its vicarious effects on all the members of this committee… What it means is that you have done something as he claims, but we share in that liability with you as the minority caucus. It is in that spirit that we say that let this matter be properly resolved for all of us to have a way forward’’.
But Barker-Vormawor, in responding, denied being a member of NDC, saying,’Unfortunately, I must also address the claim that it is a notorious fact that he is a member of the NDC. In fact, I must say that (because of ) the victory of the NDC, now everybody says they are NDC members. But this is completely untrue. I have not been a member of the NDC in the past, and it is my hope that my ideology, which has always been stated, I have consistently voted for the CPP, and I will continue to do so’’.
