Following the tensions that flared during a session of the Appointments Committee, the process has been suspended to Friday, January 31, 2025.
Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga said all the microphones have been destroyed in the process of the chaos.
He described the chaos as a stain on the image of Parliament and that it would take a long time to redeem their image.
Chaos erupted in Parliament as members of the Minority and Majority Caucuses clashed over the vetting of Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
Mahama Ayariga stated that what happened was unfortunate and has asked the MPs not to destroy the enviable image Ghana has chalked up over the years.
“We would have continued, but logistically, it is no longer possible to continue. The microphones have all been destroyed,” he lamented, adding that with the microphones destroyed, it would be difficult for the media to cover the process.
He further announced that the vetting will be resumed in conference with the Speaker and has further directed that nominees should not invite anyone since the conference room was limited.
