Executive Director of Peace Watch Ghana Madam Nyonkopa Daniels has served notice that she will mobilise women to storm parliament with a demonstration if Emaefa Hardcastle is treated unfairly.
She says after his unfortunate public altercation with Frank Annor Dompreh in Parliament, she offered an apology; hence, it is not right for the matter to be dragged.
According to her, if Hardcastle is dragged to the Privileges Committee over the matter, then the Minority Chief Whip must also be dragged before the Committee for claiming President John Dramani Mahama was a curse to the nation.
”Emaefa Hardcastle apologised to Frank Annor Dompreh, and I thought that would be the end of the matter, but the decision to bring her before the Privileges Committee is unfair. We were in this country when Annor Dompreh told us that President Mahama was a curse on the nation. Did he apologise? Was he dragged before the Privileges Committee? So, if Emaefa says he is’silly,’ she has apologised, but Annor Dompreh claims she offered a lame apology. He should be brought to the committee to apologise to President Mahama before Emaefa Hardcastle arrives; otherwise, we will storm parliament with a demonstration. “We will mobilise women and storm parliament with a demonstration.”
According to her, the NPP is fond of doing this to NDC women, and she recounted how they did similar things to Vicky Hammah, who claimed to have retired from politics after making million-dollar comments that caused then-President Mahama to fire her.
‘’They did the same to Vicky Hammah. She did not say she was going to steal state resources but will retire after making a million dollars. The NPP held on to this until she was fired. The NDC does not protect its women. If Emaefa has apologised, it ends it. Anytime NDC is in power, they can’t protect their women. Ursula Owusu made very hurtful comments about Mahama, and yet she did not suffer any consequences. I will organise women to embark on a demonstration if Annor Dompreh is not dragged before the Privileges. The NDC women must stand up and defend their women. We demonstrate against the Speaker if he allows Emaefa to be dragged before the Committee. We voted, and that is why he is the Speaker today, and so if he will be soft and allow for our women to be intimidated, we will demonstrate against him.’’
