The minority in Parliament has demanded the resignation of the Clerk of the Appointments Committee, describing her as biased and extremely partisan.
Addressing the media at a press briefing on Friday, January 31, 2025, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin accused the clerk of showing allegiance to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He claimed that while the NDC was in opposition, the clerk consistently demanded that they be heard on all matters but has shifted the goal post after the NDC took over the majority caucus.
“The clerk of the committee has made it clear that she is aligned with the NDC. We will formally write to the Clerk of Parliament to demand her removal from the Appointments Committee. She must either resign as a parliamentary staff or immediately change her approach,” he said.
‘’What an irresponsible clerk we have. What a partisan clerk we have. She must be ashamed of herself . We would not spare her. We would go all out to deal with her if she would not change.’’
