Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister-designate for the Foreign Affairs Ministry, has promised to implement initiatives that will help Ghanaians turn the challenge of brain drain into a significant opportunity for national development.
Speaking to the Appointments Committee on Friday, January 31, he stated that Ghana will implement strategies to turn the loss of skilled professionals into a benefit for the country.
Although many highly qualified Ghanaians depart the country in pursuit of better opportunities overseas, he pointed out that their knowledge and international connections should be used to advance the country.
“We will ensure that brain drain becomes brain gain by creating the right environment for our professionals abroad to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s development,” he said.
The Foreign Affairs Minister-designate plans to foster stronger ties with the Ghanaian diaspora, encouraging investments in education, healthcare, and technology, and facilitating knowledge transfer, partnerships, and remittances to benefit the economy.
