Member of Parliament for Builsa South Dr. Clement Apaak has commended President John Dramani Mahama for establishing an eight-member committee to oversee the National Education Forum he promised during the campaign period.
The MP who served as spokesperson for the Mahama campaign on education in 2024 said this shows how committed the president is to delivering on his promises and commitment to resetting the education sector.
He described the personalities selected to oversee the National Education Forum as some of the best in the sector.
He expressed optimism that they will deliver on their mandate given to them and formulate a draft that will help in transforming the education sector, which is currently bedevilled with serious challenges.
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed an eight-member committee to organise the National Education Forum in fulfilment of his campaign promise.
The committee is expected to solicit views and ideas that can help reshape the education sector.
Chairing the committee is former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Professor George K. T. Oduro.
The members are Professor Goski Alabi, Professor Rosemary Bosu, Samuel Awuku, Ph.D., and Professor Smile Dzisi.
The rest are Kofi Asare, Stephen Owusu, and Inusah Shiraz.
As part of their mandate, they have been tasked with developing a guiding theme, identifying stakeholders across the education sector, and proposing an agenda with time allocations.
The committee is also tasked with selecting a venue and date for the forum, setting up a secretariat, and preparing a budget.
They are to compile a comprehensive report detailing the forum’s findings and recommendations.
Dr. Apaak, in his remarks, indicated that the president has selected some of the finest brains in the sector, and their contributions will go a long way in helping to transform the sector.
He wrote, “The reset to build the Ghana we want agenda is unfolding in the education sector as well. President Mahama has selected some of the best in the sector to plan the National Education Forum he pledged. Most commendable”.
