Clerk of Appointments Committee using WhatsApp to make insinuations at us—Minority

The minority in Parliament has once again taken a swipe at the Clerk of the Appointments Committee, Gifty Jiagge-Gobah, insisting she is displaying unprofessional conduct.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, February 3, 2025, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin said the Clerk of the Committee is taken to insinuating against them on social media, particularly WhatsApp.

The Effutu legislator advised her to resign from her job if she wants to be an NDC activist.

Afenyo-Markin said it is the position of the minority for her to be removed as clerk of the committee if she is unwilling to change.

‘’We, the minority, are calling on the Clerk to Parliament to remove her from the Appointments Committee unless she is ready to turn a new leaf to be a professional and engage us. To make things worse, she is taken to insinuating against us on social media, particularly using her WhatsApp status. We’ve seen all of that; we’ve printed it. If she, as a clerk, wants to be an NDC activist, we expect her to resign and fully participate in the NDC politics and not to pretend she is a parliamentary service staff.”

He claimed that when they were in the Majority caucus, the Clerk always insisted on the then-NDC Minority providing input on all issues, but that is no longer the case now that the NDC has taken control of the Majority.
