The Minority in Parliament has rescinded its decision to subject the approval of Samuel Nartey George, the Minister-designate for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, to a secret vote.

Leader of the Caucus Alexander Afenyo-Markin stated before the House on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, that his side would rather abstain from voting.

He therefore requested the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, who was presiding, to put the question and allow the record of the House to reflect that they abstained from the voice vote.

When the Speaker put the question for those in support of the approval of the nominee to vote by voice, the Majority Caucus responded with a loud ‘Yeah Yeah.’

After he put the question for those opposed to respond, there was no response, and he ruled that the nominee had been approved by a majority decision.

Prior to the House’s approval, the Minority Leader stated that they were dissociating themselves from the nominee and that the Majority should bear the responsibility.
