President John Dramani Mahama has banned first-class travel for all his ministers.
He announced this when he swore in some 17 new ministers at the Jubilee House today, Friday, February 7, 2025.
President Mahama assured Ghanaians that his administration will be defined by modesty and respect for the Ghanaian people.
According to him, he has instructed the Chief of Staff to formally notify ministers and government appointees about an immediate ban on nonessential travel to reduce government expenditure.
“Any travel that is deemed essential and necessary must be cleared first with the Office of the Chief of Staff and such travels will have to be taken in modesty no first class,” he said.
“The resources you will be working with belong to the Ghanaian people who put us in office,” he added.
Meanwhile, the President has also disclosed that he will name the rest of his deputy ministers in the coming days.
“In the coming days, I will nominate the last four deputy ministers, bringing the total number of ministers to 60, as I assured the people of Ghana,” he stated.
“An efficient government will not build itself. It requires intentional effort and dedication. I, therefore, expect nothing but the very best from all of you,” he told the newly sworn-in ministers.
