Host of ‘As it is in Ghana,’ Sir Richie on Rainbow Radio 92.4FM, UK, has taken a swipe at Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annor Dompreh, over the latter’s recent comments he made.
The Nsawam Adoagyiri Member of Parliament in a recent remark was heard inciting members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The MP, in his remarks, stated that should NPP members see their fellow NPP member fighting an NDC member, they should help the NPP beat the NDC member.
During a visit by the NPP caucus leadership to the party’s parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North, Akua Afriyie, Annoh-Dompreh stated, “If indeed you are a member of the NPP and you go to meet your fellow party member fighting a member of the NDC, join your party member to beat the NDC member,” he declared.
Reacting to this, Sir Richie described the comments as reckless and irresponsible and not befitting of an MP.
He opined that if it were in the UK that this happened, the NPP MP would have been forced to resign from his seat even from within his own party.
“Annor Dompreh’s comments are unfortunate and embarrassing.” If he were an MP in the UK and made such a derogatory statement, his own party members would have forced him to resign. As an MP, he should stop making such inciting comments. It is not morally acceptable. Politically, it is not acceptable, and as an MP, he should be ashamed of himself. It is completely inappropriate for him to make those remarks. “It is unnecessary.”
