National security operatives have intercepted a stash of counterfeit US dollars, Ghanaian cedi notes, and suspected gold bars hidden in shipping containers at Sapeiman, following a tip-off.
The operation was conducted at a warehouse in Sapeiman, within the Ga South Municipality. Upon inspection, the containers were found to contain bundles of US dollars concealed inside wooden boxes and surrounded by cement.
Fake Ghana Army uniforms and boots were among the additional things seized.
Officials report that two containers remain unaccounted for, with intensified efforts underway to locate them.
A manhunt is currently underway for four suspects, including a suspected ringleader known only as Alhaji.
