A curfew has been imposed in James Town and its environs, affecting minors under 18 years of age.
According to the curfew, minors under 18 are expected to be indoors by 9:00 pm.
Failure to comply with the directive will result in sanctions by a group of young men assigned to enforce the directive.
An investigation by Rainbowradioonline.com observed some young men chasing children who had defied the directive with canes.
Those apprehended were reprimanded and cautioned against disobeying the directive again.
Information gathered indicated that the Ga Traditional Council, led by Ga Mantse, Nii Teiko Tsuru, and other chiefs under his jurisdiction, imposed the curfew.
Further details revealed that the directive aims to maintain discipline and prevent social vices. Some residents confirmed the story, stating that several minors in the area have adopted undesirable lifestyles, including smoking and premarital sex, among others.
They also expressed concerns about the issue of teenage pregnancy. Others revealed that some adults in the area are engaging in sexual affairs with minors under 18, which they perceive as a challenge.
While the majority of residents support maintaining the directive, others argue that it is not the most effective approach to addressing indiscipline.
