Samuel Nana Appiah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Global Intelligence, believes the National Security operatives who conducted the bust and intercepted the gold bars, fake dollars, and Ghanaian currency deserve to be commended.
He noted that doing this requires patriotism and national interest, so we should congratulate them.
He stated that we cannot speculate until there is evidence to the contrary that something wrong was done by port officials.
“We cannot speculate or make assumptions until we have evidence that customs officials failed in their duty by allowing the gold bars and other items discovered to be transported to their location.”
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he said, “If we have not received any information that someone was complicit or there was any form of compromise to allow the containers to be transported to the crime scene, then we cannot speculate.”
He demanded a thorough investigation into the incident to determine who was responsible, emphasising that the shipping agency, clearing agents, and all other individuals who had direct contact in having the containers shipped to Ghana should be investigated.
”It was a chain reaction in which all of the agencies worked together to ensure that this was completed. As a result, we must conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that all parties involved are held accountable. I think those who conducted the bust did a good job, and we should commend them.”
When asked if we could link this to terrorist organisations or money laundering, he said it was too early to say because it was important to conduct the investigation and determine who was behind it and whether they had any ties to such criminal groups.
