President of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, Pe Adiale Ditundini Ayagitam III, has been elected the Upper East Regional representative on the Council of State.
He emerged victorious in the election held today, Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
Pe Adiale III secured 18 votes out of a total of 30 votes cast, cementing his position as the region’s representative on the Council of State.
Pe Adiale Ditundini Ayagitam III, who is also the paramount chief of the Chaina Traditional Area, defeated eight other candidates, including his closest contender, Thomas More, who managed to secure five votes.
The Council of State is a constitutional advisory body established under Article 89 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.
It has appointed and elected members who advise the president on governance issues.
Each region elects a representative, and others are appointed based on their expertise and experience.
