The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that the Council of State elections organised in the North East regions have been cancelled.
The electoral body says the elections in the two regions would be rerun.
A statement issued and signed by Deputy Director in charge of Operations Samuel Tettey disclosed that the re-run would be organised on Monday, February 17, 2025.
According to the EC, there was a tie in the North East Region, which has called for the re-run.
In the Ashanti region, the election was disrupted by thugs and could therefore not be concluded.
The EC added that it has officially written to the Police Service and copied the National Election Security Taskforce to heighten security on the day of the rerun.
