The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has declared a nationwide strike in protest against the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry.
CLOGSAG’s strike follows a meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) on February 11, 2025.
A statement issued by the Association expressed discontent that the government should not appoint politically exposed persons to the Civil Service.
The National Executive Committee reached a consensus that if Mr. Botchway’s appointment is maintained, they will have no option but to embark on strike action.
CLOGSAG’s nationwide strike will take effect from Thursday, February 20, 2025.
The statement advised members to remain at home from the commencement of the strike until further notice.
