Kissi Agyebeng behaving as someone who did not take his law lessons seriously as a student—Palgrave

February 15, 2025
Palgrave-Boakye-Danquah

A former spokesperson for former President Akufo-Addo on governance and security has questioned the competence of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng.

The security strategist and governance specialist is of the view that the Special Prosecutor is behaving as if he did not take his law lessons seriously.

He condemned Kissi Agyebeng for declaring Ken Ofori-Atta as a fugitive, ignoring the correspondence the former minister sent to him.

He expressed worry that by this act, Ghana has become a laughing stock in the international space. Speaking to Sir Richie on ‘As it is in Ghana’ on Rainbow Radio 92.4FM, he said the OSP has behaved as if he did not understand his training as a lawyer.

He said if there was anybody to be declared a fugitive, it should be the former boss of MASLIC, Sedina Tamakloe, who was tried in absentia and sentenced to ten years in prison over corruption and corruption-related activities.

Palgrave Boakye Danquah said the OSP had no authority to declare Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive.

“OSP is a lawyer, but he is behaving as if he did not take his law lessons seriously. A fugitive is someone who has escaped jail or someone who has been condemned or convicted. The proper fugitive he ought to go after is Sedina Tamakloe, the woman who has been sentenced to a ten-year jail term for spending state resources. She is now in the United States and has refused to come over to serve her jail term of hard labour. She is the fugitive who must be pursued. And so, if the OSP has left her and refused to go after, then he lacks understanding of his law profession and did not understand his lessons while in school.

This is pure national embarrassment. He is embarrassing the country. Do you know what the interesting thing is? We have become a laughingstock. There are some times that are done indoors. Where was diplomacy when this was being done? The next time you mention Ghana instead of talking about gold, the Black Star, cocoa, and oil, they will say, Your finance minister was a fugitive instead of misinformation?
