A young man identified as Kwaku has allegedly committed matricide.
The incident reportedly transpired at Dwenim in the Jaman South district of the Bono region.
Emerging details indicate that the suspect allegedly perpetrated the crime on his mother’s cashew farm.
According to Nana Kwame, reporting on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the suspect purportedly trailed his mother, Maame Emelia, to the farm, wielding a cutlass, and slashed her neck and other parts of her body.
Three siblings of the suspect, who were present, began screaming and fled in fear for their lives.
Nearby farmers rushed to the scene but did not apprehend the suspect.
They subsequently notified the police.
The motive behind the alleged crime remains unclear, although reports suggest that the suspect is mentally unstable.
The police have initiated an investigation and are searching for Kwaku.
The victim’s body has been deposited at the morgue.
