Hon. Frank Asiedu Bekoe, Member of Parliament for Suhum Constituency, has advocated for a multi-faceted approach to address the issue of jaywalking and promote pedestrian safety.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on a statement read by the Member of Parliament for Weija Gbawe, he suggested that education and awareness campaigns should be employed to inform pedestrians of the dangers of jaywalking.
Secondly, security agencies should be involved in enforcing traffic laws and regulations.
He also stated that engineers should redesign footbridges to incorporate features that prevent jaywalking, such as physical barriers or other deterrents.
He emphasized that by adopting a comprehensive approach, Ghana can reduce the incidence of jaywalking and promote a safer environment for all road users.
