Executive Director of Policy Think, Institute for Liberty and Policy Innovation, Peter Bismark Kwofie has expressed shock at the decision by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng for announcing that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has been excluded from the WANTED persons list.
He is perplexed as to why someone suspected of fleeing justice would have their name removed off the WANTED people list.
Mr. Kwofie stated that Kissi Agyebeng initially designated the former minister a fugitive, and then WANTED.
But it has emerged that the OSP has received communication from the former appointee on the specific date he will return to Ghana to face justice.
Mr. Kwofie stated in a statement that the decision by the OSP to declare Ofori-Atta wanted denotes that it had done lots of investigations justifying why a wanted notice is issued.
In his opinion, when someone is declared WANTED, they are believed to be top suspects, and every attempt should be taken to arrest and punish them.
“I have not heard or read anywhere, FBI negotiating with a criminal on when that criminal will come out and be arrested. What if the former Finance Ministry would be able to put his house of mess together before facing the OSP? What if other suspects along are murdered to prevent proper investigations into the subjects?
If the OSP is negotiating with a criminal then I do not the seriousness of that office.
This also depict the Former Finance Minister is not a dangerous criminal and should not have been placed on a wanted list or declared a fugitive.”

Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) Negotiating with a Criminal?
The OSP in a press conference labeled the former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori- Atta a fugitive. Now, fugitive is a person who has escaped from captivity or is in hiding, especially avoiding arrest. This was followed with a wanted notice.
It denotes the OSP has done lots of investigations justifying why a wanted notice is issued.
In such instances the person is a criminal or a prime suspect. Here, the OSP is negotiating with the “criminal” on when he would be available for his arrest. Literally, the former Finance Minister is saying, I will be available in May 2025 so you can arrest me.
Placing a criminal on a wanted radar is a sensitive subject depicting how dangerous the criminal is and could be.
I have not heard or read anywhere, FBI negotiating with a criminal on when that criminal will come out and be arrested. What if the former Finance Ministry would be able to put his house of mess together before facing the OSP? What if other suspects along are murdered to prevent proper investigations into the subjects?
If the OSP is negotiating with a criminal then I do not the seriousness of that office.
This also depict the Former Finance Minister is not a dangerous criminal and should not have been placed on a wanted list or declared a fugitive.
