The young man who allegedly killed her mother on her cashew farm at Dwenim in the Jaman South district of the Bono region has been apprehended.
The suspect, who is identified as Kwaku Abednego, allegedly perpetrated the crime on his mother’s cashew farm in the presence of three other minors.
According to Nana Kwame, reporting on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the suspect purportedly trailed his mother, Maame Emelia, to the farm, wielding a cutlass, and slashed her neck and other parts of her body.
He fled after committing the offence, but an update provided by Nana Kwame on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM indicates that he has been apprehended.
He reported that the young man was physically assaulted by the young men who apprehended him.
The reporter reported that several young men from various communities searched for him in the bush and apprehended him.
“A young man has been apprehended.” The people who had apprehended him beat him. His left eye has swollen. He was not arrested in the community where the incident occurred. He was arrested in a different community. If he had been arrested in the same community where he allegedly killed the mother, he might not have survived.
He also stated that the late mother had complained about his son’s drug addiction and had previously sent him to a prayer camp to have it resolved.
The suspect has since been turned over to the police for further investigation.
