The two brothers who exhumed the body of a ten-year-old boy from a local cemetery have been jailed.
The two were handed a four-year jail term each for engaging in the unlawful act by the Ofankor Circuit Court.
The court was presided over by Her Worship Linda Amissah.
The convicts, Fofo Agboyemeh and Kwame Agboyemeh, exhumed the body of 10-year-old James Ajoyemeh from a cemetery in Adawukwa, a community in Bawjiase, on January 14, 2025.
Some residents on the day of the incident were chased by ‘okada’ riders in Ashalaja around 1 a.m. following a tip-off leading to the assault by the mob.
It took the intervention of the police to prevent the two brothers from being killed.
The Awutu Bawjiase Police Command launched an investigation into the matter to determine the motive behind the exhumation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
It emerged that the two exhumed the body as part of plans to establish a shrine.
They have since been sentenced to four years in jail each.
