Lawyers for Henry Nana Boakye, commonly known as Nana B, have written to the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) operators, The Fourth Estate, to retract and apologise for their recent publication on the alleged ghost name scandal at the National Service Authority (NSA).
The former official of the NSA, through his lawyers, Sarkodie Baffour Awuah & Partners, stated that the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), through Fourth Estate, has no reasonable basis to smear his image.
According to him, the lawyers have written a demand notice to MFWA (Fourth Estate) to retract and apologise for unjustifiably tainting my reputation.
He served notice that should the MFWA (Fourth Estate) fail to do the needful, the lawyers have his full instructions to sue the outfit.
Nana B stated that The Fourth Estate’s investigative piece was misleading and based on flawed methodology.
According to The Fourth Estate’s investigation, the NSS published 85,000 postings in 2018, while Parliament received 135,000.
There was a difference of 50,000 names that were classified as ghost names.
However, Nana B refuted the claims, stating that, while the NSS registration system has been a target for scammers attempting to infiltrate it with fraudulent credentials, biometric verification at the regional and district levels prevents such individuals from benefiting from the scheme.
